CAF Task Force Iraq

    In accordance with accepted international commitments, the Czech Republic has increased numbers of its soldiers in training units on the Iraqi territory in OIR (Operation Inherent Resolve) and NMI (NATO Mission in Iraq) missions. Due to this fact, it was created the 'Czech Armed Forces Task Force Iraq' in the second half of 2018.

    The CAF TF Iraq commands, administratively controls and provides logistic support to all Czech units deployed elsewhere in Iraq. The Commander has also authority to purchase materiel and services from local contractors which brings more flexibility and saves money.

    6th Air Advisory Team in the Operation Inherent Resolve in Iraq

    - Till the end of its task, it will serve independently.

    Air Advisory Team, Iraq

    Mandate:

    Based on a request by the Iraqi Government, the Czech Government approved the deployment of the Air Advisory Team to Iraq at its session in April 2018.

    The Iraqi deployment of up to 35 soldiers was confirmed by both chambers of the Czech Parliament in May and June 2018.

    Location:

    • Balad Air Force Base, Iraq

    Size of the Team: 31 soldiers (pilots, instructors and ground technicians).

    Participation: the core of the Team is formed by airmen from the 21st Air Force Base in Caslav. Soldiers of other nine military units and facilities have supplemented the Team.

    The commander of the 6th Air Advisory Team assumed the operational task on the 8th August 2018.

    The main task of the Team are advisory and mentoring activities during operational training of Iraqi Air Force's air and ground personnel over flying and maintenance of L-159 ALCA aircraft which were supplied by the Czech Republic.
