Minister of Defence Jana Černochová visited the Headquarters of the 4th Rapid Deployment Brigade and the 41st Mechanised Battalion in Žatec in the company of Deputy Minister František Šulc, Deputy Minister Daniel Blažkovec, Deputy Chief of General Staff Major General Milan Schulc and the Land Forces Major General Ladislav Jung..

“The 4th Rapid Deployment Brigade is an elite unit and ranks among the primary manoeuvre forces of the Czech Armed Forces. That is why one of my first trips has led to Žatec,” Defence Minister Jana Černochová explained. The introductory briefing during her visit presented the 4RDBde organisational structure, manning levels, primary weapons systems and equipment and the level of readiness of all Brigade subunits. The discussion focused on modernisation projects and the future of the 4RDBde.

Žatec is likewise the home base to the 41st Mechanised Battalion, whose commander Lieutenant Colonel Stanislav Kočica also welcomed the Minister and presented to her the weapon systems and equipment, including the new Toyota Hilux cars and CZ BREN 2 PPS precision rifles.

“The hallmark of the 4RDBde are the Pandurs, and I have seen all their variants today, plus other heavy equipment. But what I was most looking forward to were handguns – they are my love. I am pleased to have found out the Brigade is sufficiently equipped in this regard. The 4RDBde has always boasted state-of-the-art armaments and equipment, and they continue to do so. I also had a hands-on experience with the latest CZ BREN 2 PPS precision rifle with all accessories and I must admit it will be my pleasure to make use of an invitation by the commander to come and see the shooting practice. And if I am allowed, I will be very glad to try the rifle out,” the Minister added.

Minister Černochová emphasised that her primary takeaway from the trip was that the most valuable asset our military has are the service members. They display a high professionalism and the Minister highly appreciates their commitment and dedication – she thanked the soldiers for their selfless service both in homeland and on foreign operations.

“They deserve the best conditions to be able to perform the excellent job they are doing. And that is the homework I am taking from this visit,” Minister Černochová underscored.

The Minister honoured the memory of the 4RDBde service members who died in the line of duty. Accompanied by Deputy Ministers, she solemnly laid flowers at the Brigade memorial to the fallen service members. A short prayer followed.
