Czech and Estonian Defence Ministers attend handover ceremony as airmen from Čáslav AFB take over operational assignment for Baltic Air Policing

On Monday 2 September 2019, Czech Minister of Defence Lubomír Metnar and his Estonian counterpart Jüri Luik attended the handover/takeover ceremony for the NATO Baltic Air Policing operational assignment at Ämari Air Force Base, Estonia. A short bilateral meeting followed and Minister Metnar completed his trip with informal discussions with the Czech Armed Forces servicemembers.

On 4 and 5 September 2019, a meeting of the Visegrad Four Chiefs of Defence was held in Štiřín near Prague. It was the opening military meeting of the Czech Presidency of the Visegrad Four.

Minister Lubomír Metnar first took part in the joint meeting of the European Union Foreign Ministers and Defence Ministers with their counterparts from G5 Sahel countries and then in a dedicated session of EU Defence Ministers in Brussels.

Czech Minister of Defence Lubomír Metnar met with the Minister of Defence of Federal Republic of Germany Ursula von der Leyen in Berlin. He was accompanied by Deputy Minister for Defence Policy and Strategy Jakub Landovský and Director of the MoD Capabilities Planning Division Major General Jaromír Alan.
Minister Metnar visited Armenia to discuss bilateral cooperation and security situation

On April 9-10th, Minister of Defence Lubomír Metnar visited Armenia. He had a call with Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Defence Minister David Tonoyan and representatives of the National Assembly in Yerevan. The discussions focused on the development of bilateral cooperation and the security situation in the region. The Defence Ministers also signed an intergovernmental agreement on military technical cooperation.
