    On 24th January, General Josef Becvar, Chief of the General Staff, visited new recruits and members of the Active Reserve while completing their basic military training course at the Training Command - Military Academy in Vyskov and at nearby Brezina Military Training Area.

    The first soldier to receive the newly introduced EU Medal for Extraordinary Meritorious Service was the Czech Corporal C. H. from the 44th Light Motorised Battalion based at Jindrichuv Hradec. The medal was awarded for the corporal's prompt reaction during the attack on the Headquarters of the EU Training Mission in Bamako, Mali.

    On 14th December, the Czech government approved a recommendation from the 33-membered assessment commission of the Ministry of Defence, and agreed that eight ELM 2084 MMR radars will be supplied by the Israeli company, IAI Elta.
